How much Glutamine is needed?

Muscle recovery

10 to 15 grams of L-Glutamine a day, splitting the dose in 5 grams, 2 to 3 times daily. You should also know that you may already be getting some L-Glutamine in your diet from other supplements you’re taking. Many protein supplements already have some L-Glutamine mixed into it, so read the labels to know for sure. The best times to take L-Glutamine powder is in the morning, after a workout, and at night before bedtime.

The suggestion is to split the doses up throughout the day 5 grams at a time. Be sure to start with 5 grams and work up to 15 per day. Like with any supplement, start with the smallest dose and work up.

I take it 2x a day pre and post-workout. The highest micronutrient absorption is post-workout.

For improved gut health

5-15 grams has been shown to help seal and rebuild the stomach lining. The trick is that glutamine for gut health must be taken alone as other amino acids will compete for absorption, and food particles, in general, will limit the effectiveness of glutamine.
